A Father’s Day Tribute To Dad

When there were monsters under the bed and
I was too scared to sleep, who “chased them away”
to make me feel safe again, My Dad.

When I learned how to fish, tangling my line
more times than I cast it,
who kept untangling my line
and baiting my hook, My Dad.

When I learned to play catch,
dropping more than I caught,
the one who kept tossing it back
with a smile, My Dad.

When it came time to drive
—nervous hands on the wheel—
who trusted me to take the road
time after time, My Dad.

As I drifted into adulthood
and life got messy, confusing,
and full of uncertainties,
who’s the one who encouraged me
to keep trying, to keep going,
to keep believing, My Dad.

When the grandkids climb all over him
and getting down on the floor
takes more effort than it used to,
who still does it anyway, My Dad.

Who’s the person I will always look up to
—no matter how tall I grow—My Dad.

Whether your Dad is walking with God or still able to walk the dog, make sure to wish YOUR Dad a Happy Father’s Day.
