ISP K9 Enzo Receives Donated Protective Vest

FORT WAYNE — Indiana State Police K9 Enzo has received a new bullet‑ and stab‑resistant protective vest through a donation from the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vest was sponsored by Kurt and Sherry Reineke of New Haven, Indiana, and includes the sentiment, “Born to Love, Trained to Serve, Loyal Always.”

According to ISP, the specialized vest provides certified ballistic and stab protection designed specifically for working police dogs. The equipment is intended to enhance safety for K9 teams during searches, tracking operations, and other high‑risk assignments.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a national 501(c)(3) charity that supplies protective vests and related equipment to law enforcement dogs across the United States. Since its founding in 2009, the organization has provided thousands of vests to agencies through donations and sponsorships. Each vest is custom‑fitted and typically valued at more than $2,000.
The nonprofit accepts public contributions to support its mission and maintains eligibility guidelines for departments seeking equipment. More information about the program, sponsorship opportunities, and donation options is available through the organization.
