DECATUR, Ind. — A regional bridge deck replacement project along U.S. Route 224 remains on track for a mid-August completion, though crews face temporary environmental restrictions on in-water construction, local officials announced.
Project managers confirmed Tuesday that workers are currently focusing on pouring the bridge approaches. However, active work inside the river channel has been placed on an environmental hold until July 1 to comply with state Department of Natural Resources regulations protecting seasonal fish spawning.
Despite the localized delay on the river piers, engineers report that the overall construction timeline has not been impacted, and the bridge is expected to open to traffic on schedule.
