Ford Issues Recall for 1.4 Million F‑150 Trucks Over Gearshift Defect

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting nearly 1.4 million F‑150 pickup trucks in the United States after identifying a gearshift malfunction that could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles. According to the company, the defect may allow the transmission to unexpectedly shift out of position, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall applies to F‑150 light trucks equipped with a six‑speed automatic transmission and built between March 12, 2014, and August 18, 2017. Ford says it is notifying owners and will provide repairs at no cost through its dealership network. Drivers experiencing unusual shifting behavior are urged to contact their local dealer for inspection.
Federal safety officials note that no serious injuries have been confirmed at this time, but the potential for unintended movement or loss of control prompted the large‑scale recall. Ford says it is cooperating with regulators and working to ensure affected vehicles are repaired as quickly as possible.
